Abstract

The JHPPH Policy Guide provides a comprehensive overview of the core editorial, ethical, and operational standards governing The Journal of Human Police Policing Human (Pty) Ltd. This guide sets out the principles of open access, research integrity, copyright and licensing, anti-plagiarism measures, editorial governance, digital archiving, article processing charges, retraction and correction procedures, appeals, complaints, and data sharing. By clearly articulating these policies, JHPPH commits to fostering ethical scholarship, protecting author rights, and promoting transparency and accessibility in African-led research. The Policy Guide aims to provide clarity, build trust, and ensure best practices for all contributors and stakeholders engaging with the journal.

For transparency, this policy is reviewed annually by the editorial board and updated to reflect current international publishing standards.

This policy reflects evolving international best practices, including those outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). It is guided by principles of transparency, access, and care. These policies were developed specifically for The Journal of Human Police Policing Human (Pty) Ltd and are informed by a range of openly available publishing ethics resources and standards.
